Executive Summary
Cordin is a company in Salt Lake City that makes specialized high speed cameras for medical and military use. Creating cameras is costly and projects must be pursued only after careful consideration of costs and opportunities invloved. Potential Project Portfolio is an application for Microsoft Excel made specifically for Cordin that allows for quick and effective comparison of the internal rate of return and net present value of various engineering projects that it would like to pursue. The application stores important information and uses various user forms to easily create project spreadsheets while allowing flexibility depending on the number of inputs involved. The project includes:
- An updatable accounting database that contains all of the possible inputs for the projects and rates to be applied to all projects.
- A project creation portion which prompts the user for information through user forms and automatically creates a project spreadsheet that shows all development costs, a profit forecast, and an automatic calculation of net present value and the internal rate of return.
- A portfolio builder which grabs important information from each projects and puts it in a table which will allow management to decide which projects are most profitable.
