Automated Freight Quoter for Mity-Lite

This VBA project was created for Mity-Lite. Mity-Lite is a manufacturer of tables and chairs and is located in Orem, Utah. Currently, Mity-Lite is a supplier to business and venues like Culver’s, Chili’s, UVU Convention Center, Moe’s, among others businesses and churches.

Mity-Lite’s majority of sales are B2B. These businesses typically request a quote through a sales rep. These sales quotes include the price of the products along with the shipping charge associated with the freight. Therefore, the sales rep frequently contact logistics requesting quotes for certain shipments that could be sent anywhere in the country. Logistics has to respond with a timely and accurate quote in order to please the customer.

Prior to this VBA program, Logistics would have to manually calculate the total weight of the product and pallets, figure out the shipment class, shipment location, and which carrier to use. Once all of this information is understood the logistics department would have to go to the specific carrier’s website, manually input the information listed above, and finally request the quote. The freight quote program I created calculates everything required to request a quote by simply inputting the item and zip code. The program is automated and goes to four different carriers webpages, fills out the form, and calculates the total cost of the freight. Prior to this program, the process took roughly 5 minutes to complete but now has been reduced to a matter of seconds.
