LearningSuite
is probably the worst web application that BYU has ever implemented. The
purpose of this web application is to enhance the teaching of instructors and
the learning of students. Professors are able to administer exams, post
announcements, distribute grades, while students can view assignments, take
quizzes, and communicate with their peers. However, the software is incredibly
unstable and lacks several features. One of the key functionalities that it
lacks is the ability to integrate all the calendars of a student’s classes. In
order to view their assignments, students need to view each calendar one at a
time. For this reason I have developed LS Calendar Integrator (LSCI). LSCI scrapes
the data from each of a student’s calendars on Learning Suite and integrates
them into one uniform calendar with all his or her assignments. The user first
selects which classes’ calendars he or she would like to integrate. Next, the
user provides the Excel application with his or her Net ID and password.
Lastly, a nicely organized calendar with all of his or her assignments is
provided.
