A friend of mine, who owns a language school for English-as-a-second-language (ESL) students, approached me several months ago. He and his organization have been working to develop proprietary systems as their curriculum, which deviates from the government-approved standard system. As a result, they have struggled to acquire accreditation because they had, until recently, lacked any objective evidence concerning the validity of their methods.
My friend asked if I would be willing to help them look at the data they had compiled concerning student performance over the last several years. This required looking at two different formats of course-work performance (one style prior to 2013 and one style 2013-present), and another format that held exam-performance data.
