Executive Summary
My Father Lamont Crabtree is a leading historian on the Hole-in-the-Rock pioneers; he has researched them for over 30 years. Lamont is creating a documentary about the pioneers. His documentary and other works will be for sale in the near future. Lamont wanted a simple way to keep track of his customers, sales, orders, and inventory. He didn’t want to buy an expensive and sometimes confusing program like Quick Books. The system he wanted would allow any of his family members the ability to record a sale with minimal training.
Lamont is also a member of the Hole-in-the-Rock Foundation (Foundation), a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the pioneers. The Foundation has a website www.hirf.org and people interested in receiving a newsletter can register on the website. The registration information is sent to an email account. The Foundation needs a simple way to retrieve the registration information in order to create a mailing list for the newsletter. The registration information also contains valuable comments and suggestions that its member’s make.
I was able to build a VBA program that automatically logs onto the Foundation’s email account, goes through each unread message, takes all of the registration information from the email, and puts the information into an Excel Worksheet. The registration information is now in a centralized location and email addresses can be easily obtained for the newsletter.
I also built a VBA program that has easy to use form’s for entering customer and sales information. The program will also keep track of the inventory on hand and sales transactions by month.
