Revenue Automation

Executive Summary

Ragnar Events is an events company that organizes and plans relay-running races all around the country. Most of the business operations consist of logistics and planning these events. Ragnar also partners with several corporations to sponsor events. The vast majority of Ragnar’s revenue is obtained from runners registering for races. The runners register for events by paying with a credit card through Ragnar’s online interface. At the end of each month, the controller exports these transactions to an Excel spreadsheet. Once the transactions are formatted correctly on the spreadsheet, they are imported to Ragnar’s accounting system, QuickBooks. This process usually takes about 10 hours every month.

The system I built automates the revenue import process. Up to this point, most of the data was manipulated manually using the copy and paste function. With the new system, nearly all of the data manipulation is automatic, and the import process now takes approximately five minutes.
